We then ground the VCT mastic creating a surface that the new concrete surface could adhere too. After two primer coats and two base coats, we created a surface that we can begin staining to the customers specifications. This is what we find in almost all Eichler homes 99% of the time once all the floor coverings are removed.

The floor was acid stained using 3 different colors to create multiple hues and varying effects. The floor was then sealed using a low gloss sealer and 5 coats of wax was applied to protect the sealer.

We used both a dark grey and charcoal integral color mix to achieve this mottled look followed by a few coats of high gloss sealer on this Joseph Eichler home in San Jose.
